As we sort and organize, chances are you will run across some garments that are no longer serviceable for you, but could be with some repair or alterations. As a seamstress myself, I will work with you to find the best course of action for the repair project. Old tee shirts can be made into a beautiful quilt. Worn out towels can be serged into sturdy "rags" for general cleaning tasks and are an economical option compared to paper towels. Buttons on coats can be reinforced to make the coat wearable again.
Sewing is a skill I acquired as a 4-H'er growing up in Iowa. I sewed many of my own clothes and then put my creative talents to use when our children were small. I can help you with:
Hemming garments
Altering or repairing clothing
Curtains/window treatments
Table runners, dresser scarves, quillows, etc.
Re-upholstering cushions
New items of clothing
Baby bibs (with easy care wipe-off vinyl)
Etc.
Fees will vary according to the project materials and time involved. My cost will be significantly lower than a tailor's shop, with equal or higher quality and attention to detail!
Here are some recent sewing projects that are popular:
A set of pillowcases I made for my aunt who enjoys doing jigsaw puzzles.
Try making a pair of fuzzy flannel pillowcases for a young person's room. There are so many cute fabrics available that coordinating colors and special interests is very easy!
These living room drapes gave the room a fresh, lighter look after having full length draw drapes with a formal valance that were made of thicker fabric. The new drapes were made out of stretch satin with hidden pockets in the back, allowing for closure at night for privacy.
"I got the cushions home and they fit and look great. You did an excellent job at a reasonable rate and in a timely manner. Thanks again for doing such a great job!" .........satisfied customer J.S.
