Kids' Spaces

Are you forever picking up toys off the floor?  Do you feel panic when a friend drops by on short notice?
There are some principles to follow that could make your life easier!

Keep toys at their level

If your little ones can reach what they want, the toys get used and they are more apt to put the item away when they move on to another activity.

Keep the most popular toys accessible

Keep a puzzle out on the coffee table, for instance, if your 2 year old seems to always reach for it.  Use a drawstring bag to keep small items together.

Use bins to group like items

Bins are durable, clear to make the contents visible, and very affordable.  Choose the size that best matches the contents you hope to use it for.

Encourage pick-up after playtime

It won't happen automatically, but keep on encouraging and modeling the behaviors you want your kids to learn.  Try this:  Let's each pick up 5 toys and then you can choose a snack!
